Brands must master 'SoLoMo' for generation Z - via brand-e

Digital and mobile is deeply integrated in the lives of generation Z. This generation, also known as the 'internet generation' (born from the mid to late 1990's) has grown up with the 'world wide web'. In order to be visible on their 'radar' brands need to come up with tailored mobile strategies, for example by linking their services with Foursquare, Instagram or partnering with TV apps like Miso and GetGlue. Check out the article by brand-e, by clicking on the link below.

Foursquare start met location–based adverteren - via Emerce

Ludieke destinatiemarketing campagne Zuid-Zweden: kopie campagne Achterhoek?

The importance of 'search marketing' for tourism marketeers

This is a very interesting guest article by Matthew Barker on Tnooz. He writes that the search engines of the very near future will make qualitative assessments of the quality and usefulness of content. This subjective value judgement will be used to determine the ranking and the exposure of a website.

As search engine technology is getting more and more advanced, it can monitor when visitors arrive on a website, what vistors do on a website and how they interact with the content. The volume and frequency of interactions via social media is especially important. Content that creates a 'buzz' (tweets, +1's, share,...) will not only increase exposure on local social platforms, but also universal search results.

This means that, for travel websites to be successful, they don't need just good content, they need extraordinary good content. Something that destination marketeers need to know and need to act on. Click on the link below to read the whole article.

How to NOT market your destination: Limburg's asparagus commercial

I know that The Netherlands' most southern province - Limburg - has a culinary status and that the asparagus season has just started, but the new promotional video of Limburg's Tourist Offices (VVV's) completely misses the boat.
I think their new promotional video is offensive, sexist, suggestive and shows bad taste. I really have no idea how they think this new branding strategy fits in with the high standards that the people of Limburg value and the high quality of Limburg's tourism product.
If it's publicity they are after, they may just get lucky.

Thanks to Patrick Mulder for noticing this video. I am curious what your opinion is on this video and Limburg's new branding strategy. Let me know!
