Social media-inspired content marketing: 7 lessons

Content is at the heart of social media. It fuels engagement through stories and communications. By understanding these social media related interactions, marketeers can create content that helps them reach business goals (f.e. market their tourist destination). In this article Heidi Cohen shares 7 content marketing lessons she gathered at New York City's 'Social Media Week 2012.'

Social media marketing via Pinterest: Ladies First

Again a great article on Pinterest and it's influence on the way marketing is done via social media. Women tend to engage more on social sites (30% more than men), 55% of mobile social network use is female and women make up 82% of the users on Pinterest. And maybe even more important to brands: women account for more than 85% of all consumer purchases (from autos to health care and I bet travel is in there as well). Marketing via social media seems to be influenced by the old mantra: "Ladies First'. Read the article below by Curt Finch for more information on how to target the female consumer.

Destination marketeers need to find a new focus | via Troy Thompson

Great post by Troy Thompson on the lack of focus by DMO's and CVB's on where the competition is coming from in this new age of globalization, technology and sociology. These new times demand a new focus, drastic and painful changes and a healthy disregard for the way things were once done. Important 'food for thought' for DMO's and CVB's. You can read his post via the link below.
